The Grand Rapids Nurse Honor Guard is a volunteer organization dedicated to honoring the lives and service of nurses through meaningful tribute ceremonies. Serving Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) within 40 miles of Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Honor Guard provides compassionate support at funeral services, visitations, and Celebration of Life events at no cost to families. Their services may include standing guard at the casket, presenting a Living Tribute with a rose and blanket, reciting the traditional “Nightingale Tribute,” lighting the Florence Nightingale Lamp, and placing a white rose on the casket to symbolize devotion to the nursing profession. Volunteers proudly wear the traditional white nursing uniform with navy and red capes, carrying forward the dignity, compassion, and legacy of nursing with every tribute.
